This plate depicts a large sand bank in the centre of the Tenryugawa ("Heaven-dragon") River. Further on, people are crossing in boats. Two other boats are in the foreground, moored to the sand bank, and the distant shore is enveloped in mist. The name of this station was derived from the fact that people traveling from Kyoto to Edo were able to get their first glimpse of Mt. Fuji from here. The rapidly flowing river "Tenryu" ran west of the station, and travelers had to cross the river by ferryboat.
