Three carts are passing down the main street of the village, and an open tea house is on the left. This station, located on the southwestern shore of Lake Biwa, was the last station on the Tokaido Highway. Being close to Kyoto, there were many popularly known shrines and temples in its vicinity. Otsu-e were poplular souvenirs at this time. Unfortunately, there are no Otsu-e that survive today, unlike other popular souvenirs. However, you can see the Otsu-e technique that still lives on in the fans we have on display on our website.
