Hamamatsu-shi Naka-ku, Kaji-cho 1001, Zaza City Building 3rd floor
The Hamamatsu Diorama Factory
A venue in Hamamatsu which Yamada Takuji fans from all over Japan can visit in order to see his works.
The Hamamatsu Diorama Factory is on display on the third floor of the central building of Zaza City in Naka-ku, Hamamatsu, from 17 March 2012. By displaying the works of locally born professional scenic model maker Takuji Yamada (famous for his nostalgically evocative scale models of scenes from the Showa period) and recreating his workshop within the building, we have created a venue in which to show the children of Hamamatsu and our tourist visitors the splendor of his craftsmanship, as well as to convey to a wider audience the fascination of model-making and diorama-making as a hobby.
In an effort to create a new tourist landmark that could help to revitalize the whole of Hamamatsu, the Council for the Future of Hamamatsu (an NPO) planned the Hamamatsu Diorama Factory as the first step in the creation of a street running as far as the Musical Instruments Museum outside Hamamatsu Station, along which tourists visiting our building can enjoy walking.
When you visit Hamamatsu, please also come and visit the Hamamatsu Diorama Factory, which is located on the third floor of the central building of Zaza City, five minutesí walk from JR Hamamatsu Station. We would like to extend a heartfelt welcome to all.
