Hiroshige and Hokusai

Hiroshige and Hokusai
Hiroshige (1797-1858)

While certainly one of the best landscape painters in the world, Hiroshige was also an excellent artist of many different subjects. He had an insatiable urge to draw everything.

Hokusai (1760-1849)

Hokusai was a unique figure in Ukiyo-e, who was constantly referred to as being “mad about painting.” Completely seized by the demon of art, he devoted his life to his work and did not lay down his brush until he died.
