Dining in Kyoto
Kawadoko (or noryoyuka) are dining decks built above rivers in Kyoto from late spring to autumn. A number of restaurants in several locations open kawadoko. People eat and drink, enjoying nice breezes and river views.
Kawadoko along the Kamogawa River is usually called as noryoyuka. The history of noryoyuka along the Kamogawa River dates back to Edo-era. Illuminations from the restaurants beautifully light up the river at night.
