• A group of excellent swordmakers who worked from the early to the mid-Kamakura-era in Yamashiro province. The Awataguchi School was founded by Kuniiye. He had six sons: Kunitomo, Hisakuni, Kuniyasu, Kunikiyo, Arikuni, and Kunitsuna (from elder to younger).
• Jintachi was the sword which each samurai family owned and handed down to the next generation. It is a more decorative sword.
