Maki-e Stickers

Maki-e Stickers
Maki-e: "Sprinkled picture." This is a technique which originated in the Nara-era (710-794) because usually urushi lacquer ware was decorated with designs made by scattering adhesive metal or colored powder into soft lacquer, or directly on wood. Commonly used powders were (and still are) gold, silver, shell, etc. These new Maki-e stickers are very innovative, easy to use.
