Corsica Island is located in the west part of the Mediterranean, only 200 km away from mainland France. It is known as a birthplace of Napoleīon Bonaparte, and this is where Matsui Morio continues to work. He has established his own painting style, which is to paint thousands of fine strokes to fill in a large picture plane. In 2003, he received LíOrder National de La Legion DíHonneur, known as the most prestigious award in France. Thus, his energetic work and the world of his painting were recognized after 36 years since his arrival in France.
