The events features curious festivity of wishing for good health and prosperity of a family; regarding the "Muko-nage," people push a son-in-law, who married the daughter the previous year, over a 5 meters high cliff up to the bottom of the snow-covered ground; while, the "Sumi-nuri" is to put ash, which is obtained from a burnt "Saino-kami" (a wooden image that drives away an evil spirit), on each other's face in the family.
