Tsugaru Railway (Tsutetsu) connects between Goshogawara Station and Tsugaru-nakasato Station in the Tsugaru Peninsula. The train makes 15 round trips a day, and 3 round trips out of 15 are in operation as “Stove Train” from January to March. Since the train is equipped with coal stoves, it started to be called “Stove Train”. As this train remains the style of olds days and rare in Japan, many rail fans are obsessed with this local train.
What are they on the stove? They are dried squid and the price is 300 yen/1 squid (as of March, 2011). Grilled squid goes with beer and sake, and and eating them and drinking with a winter view of the Tsugaru Plains is such a special experience!
The non-reclining seats have remain unchanged. If you are a lover of old-time or backcountry views, you will definitely enjoy the experience of this Tsugaru Railway Stove Trains!
