Yamamoto Sakubei (1892-1984), former coal miner started work at age of 7. After retired, he started paint at age of 66 on life of underground.
His works added to the Memory of the World Register in 2011.
Forty-five new documents and documentary collections from all over the world have been added to the Memory of the World Register, which now numbers a total of 238 items. The additions were recommended by the International Advisory Committee of UNESCO's Memory of the World Programme and endorsed by UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova.
